On September 16, 2018, Merced Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the 2400 block of Driftwood Dr. for a home invasion robbery. The victims reported that they were in their residence, after a having a small party. At one point, a younger Hispanic male came into the residence through an unlocked window. This male pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victims. After pointing the handgun at the victims, the male suspect let a second armed subject into the residence.
At this point, one of the suspects held the victims at gunpoint and the second suspect gathered items from inside the residence. The suspects collected various electronics, money and several articles of clothing. These items were then loaded into a vehicle and the two suspects fled the area. Working with the victims, MPD Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as a 17 year old male from Merced. Detectives were able to track down the 17 year old and take him into custody. The 17 year old male was booked into juvenile hall for several felonies, including robbery and burglary.
As detectives continued their investigation, they were able to recover several of the stolen items at a residence in the 1200 block of W. 3rd Street. Detectives recovered a big screen television, clothing, money and a cellular phone. The 17 year old male suspect had taken the items to this residence after the home invasion.
Detectives were able to identify the second suspect in the home invasion as Jesus Daniel Alonso of Merced. Alonso was arrested at his residence in the 300 block of Amy Ct. Alonso was booked into Merced County Jail for several felonies including robbery and burglary.
