One man was shot after an attempted robbery, police say.
Merced PD responded to the area of Calimyrna Ave. & E. 22nd St. for a report of shots fired at 9:55 p.m., Monday night.
According to police, a 25-year-old shooting victim was located in the area of E. 21st St. & Yosemite Parkway with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim told police he had been shot in the lower leg during and attempt to purchase a vehicle that he had found on a social media site.
The victim said he travelled to Merced to purchase a vehicle. He went to the area of Weston Way and E. 22nd St. to meet the seller.
The suspect demanded money from the victim, police say. The suspect then fired several shots resulting in the gun shot wound. The victim fled the area in his vehicle and contacted police.
