The annual Santa Night on Sunset Drive is happening on Saturday in Merced.
Lights on Sunset Drive begins on Black Friday and ends on New Year’s Eve. The annual light show brings families to 252 Sunset Drive. This year the annual Christmas light show have three houses involved. People are able to sit, stand, or watch from their car across the street for free. The Christmas lights are in sync with the music played on 1077 FM.
Jena Libecki tells Merced Daily this all started 12 years ago. “My birthday is Christmas Day. Many years ago I asked my husband to put a string of lights up for my birthday because that’s all I wanted. It just grew and grew after that,” said Jena. “He saw this beer commercial one day where lights went back and forth to the music on tv. He wanted to do that,” said Jenna.
Jena’s neighbors would get involved soon after. “It took us both about 2 years to be in sync with the music. “This is the first year we have three houses involved,” said Jenna.
You can watch the Christmas lights on Sunset Drive from 6 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every night.
The Santa Day event is on Saturday, December 21, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
