The Merced Police Department responded to W. 19th and P Street for a shots fired call at 12:07 a.m.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot.
The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital, where he eventually died.
Detectives are currently following up on leads.
No description of a suspect has been released.
