At approximately 12:36 pm., a report of a male wearing a trench coat attempting to hit vehicles with an ax on Highway 59 with a cross street of Childs Avenue was reported.
Merced PD were unable to locate suspect during that time.
A second report of a man with an ax was reported around 12:53 p.m. running around in the street near a grocery store near Childs Avenue, according to witnesses.
Merced PD is currently searching for suspect.
