A 47-year-old man was arrested after admitting to setting a blaze to a vehicle at Primos Auto Sales in Merced.

Merced Fire fighters responded to the area around 1:37 a.m., to a fully engulfed vehicle, partial flames were also on the building.

The flames on the building were extinguished quickly, the vehicle was a total loss.

The owner of the business was able to respond and review video surveillance of the incident. A subject could be seen on the video starting the fire and leaving the area on foot. Officers at the scene recognized the suspect as Charles Moreschini.

Officers realized they had contacted him just a few blocks away near the time of the fire. Officers searched the area and located Moreschini walking in the 1200 block of W 16th St.

Moreschini was questioned about the fire and admitted to starting the fire. Moreschini was arrested for Arson and booked into the Merced County Jail.
