A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Saturday night, the vehicle drove off, police say.
Merced Police say, a vehicle driving on N St at west 8th St matched the description of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.
As the officer was following the car Merced Police Dispatch notified officers of a vehicle vs pedestrian accident that had just occurred. Reports were that a small black four door vehicle had struck a pedestrian at 18th and R St. and had fled the area.

The officer elected to make sure that she was not injured.
The victim of the hit-and-run sustained moderate to serious injuries and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. The victim is listed in stable condition at this time, police say.
The female passenger was not injured and she was released after being interviewed by officers.
