A 7-year-old was airlifted after a traffic collision on Saturday evening in Winton.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the area of Olive Avenue and Jones Road for a traffic collision involving a 2005 Honda Civic and 2017 Silver Honda Accord.
Soon after the collision occurred, the driver of the 2017 Silver Honda fled on foot into an orchard field, leaving the scene.
CHP would arrive in the area at 6:31 p.m., 3 minutes after the initial collision.
CHP’s investigation concluded, the driver of the 2005 Honda was driving eastbound on Olive Avenue, meanwhile, the driver of the 2017 Silver Honda (stolen) was driving northbound on Jones Road. The driver of the 2005 Honda continued through the stop sign, the 2017 Silver Honda broadsided the 2005 Honda Civic, according to CHP.
The female driver and passenger, both 18, sustained minor injuries. The 7-year-old sustained possible internal injuries. The juvenile was airlifted at Winton Park. He was flown to Valley Children’s Hospital.
During further investigation, CHP learned the 2017 Silver Honda was stolen. The vehicle was taken when the owner left her windows down while her car was running.
No information on suspect was given.
