A 31-year-old Merced man was arrested for allegedly committing a commercial burglary at Car Quest, police say.

Incident happened on Saturday, April 11th.

Merced Police responded to a burglary alarm at Car Quest, 1607 “V” St., Merced.

Officers arrived at the location and located a broken front window. They contacted Car Quest employees who reported they could see one suspect enter the business on surveillance. The suspect stole 6 ratcheting wrench sets valued at approximately $400. The suspect then fled from the store on foot.

On April 12th Car Quest employees re-contact the Merced Police Department with additional surveillance video showing the suspects’ face.

Officers were able to positively identify the suspect as Jesus Meza.

Jesus Meza has a long wrap sheet for alleged crimes.

On April 13th Officers located and arrested Meza for commercial burglary and committing a crime during a state of emergency.

Meza was released on a citation due to COVID-19 restrictions on jail bookings.
