Earlier this week, Atwater City Council passed the City’s 2019-2020 Fiscal Year Budget.
This would be Atwater’s first positive balance in eight years, according to a news release.
The FY 2018-2019 General Found deficit was cut in almost half (from $1,691,829 to $836,185) and the FY 2019-20 balanced budget will have achieved a positive GF balance of $941,000. In addition, the furlough days have been eliminated, so the city offices will now be open and available to the public 8am to 5pm, Monday-Friday.
This will be the first time since 2011 the city’s offices will be open Monday-Friday.
“We’re excited about this years budget,” said Atwater City Manager Lori Waterman. “This will be a blueprint for Atwater Budgets for years to come and shows that our City Council is delivering on its promise of “Positive Progress” for the City of Atwater, said the news release.
