The Barnes & Noble bookstore located at 1720 Olive Avenue in Merced is scheduled to close on May 12, 2024, according to a representative of Barnes & Noble.
The closing is due to a lease agreement issue between the property owner and Barnes and Noble, similar to what Merced’s Best Buy went through in 2020.
Although Barnes & Noble will close its current location, the bookstore will not permanently close, as the company is seeking other locations in Merced.
Barnes & Noble currently has 14 employees working for their Merced location.
