Gabe’s Custom Marine Upholstery, opened at the former Castle Air Base nearly four years ago.

It began when Gabriel Garcia Sr. worked at Malibu for 25 years. He says he started doing vinyl for a boat, he ended up doing so well that a customer asked why he doesn’t open his own shop. So he thought about the idea. He would eventually operate out of his house, getting referrals from other satisfied customers.

“I once had like three boats outside my house. My wife told me it was time to get an actual shop,” he said.

He would settle for 1,000 square feet shop located on Atwater Blvd near Highway 99.

His son, Gabriel Garcia Jr., would work with him after he came out the marines.

Business would continue to grow, Gabriel Garcia Sr. (Father) and Gabriel Garcia Jr. (Son) would become business partners, and would open a 8,000 square feet location at 3020 Apron Avenue in 2016.

Gabe’s Custom Marine Upholstery, now has four employees, and gets business in -and-out of the United States.

Gabriel Garcia Sr., says their business is booked all the way to November of 2021.

Gabe’s Custom Marine Upholstery offers Skins (vinyl seat covers), complete boat restorations, boating interior, and much more.

Gabe’s Custom Marine Upholstery is also hiring for an industrial sewist.
