The Sears located at 1011 W Olive Ave. in Merced, will close due to the Sears Holding Corporation filling for chapter 11 bankruptcy. There will now be three vacant slots at the Merced Mall facing Olive Ave.
Americans’ increasing preference to buy online, and at big-box stores – rather than malls, were a major problem for the company. Sears has lost $11.7 billion dollars since its last profitable year in 2012.
