Merced resident, James Rocha, began with leaving his bubble machine on outside his front porch in early 2020. The bubbles would travel throughout his neighborhood. James told Merced Daily none of his neighbors complained during that time. He then realized he should just make it mobile.
DOING IT FOR HIMSELF, TO DOING IT FOR OTHER PEOPLE
When James started to drive around with his bubble machine on he did it to take his mind off his own personal problems. Despite having his own personal issues, James found out a drive-thru birthday party was happening within his neighborhood, he drove by and realized how many smiles he created with a simple concept. He then became inspired, he drove more often, the more he drove, the more people seemed to like it, he said.
HE WAS TOLD HE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED
During the time of driving with his bubble machine on, James was told he should be embarrassed. But he told Merced Daily he knew that was wrong, “I like to bring smiles to peoples faces, if I can’t smile I’ll borrow one from someone else.”
