At around 4:55 a.m., first responders were dispatched to a solo vehicle vs power pole on Snelling Road just north of La Paloma Road.

Upon further investigation it was determined that 43-year-old Roberto Calderon from Merced was traveling an estimated 55 MPH when his 1997 Honda Accord crashed into a power utility pole.  This caused his vehicle to rollover several times until it crashed into a barbed wire fence, according to CHP officer Eric Zuniga.

The 43-year-old sustained major injuries and was transported by Riggs to Doctors in Modesto.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this accident.
