On November 28, 2018, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7000 Block of Merced Falls Road in Snelling, Ca for the report of a home invasion robbery. During this incident, three suspects entered the victim’s home wearing ski masks and armed with firearms. A struggle ensued between the homeowner and one of the suspects over a gun resulting in the homeowner being shot in the shoulder. One of the victims grabbed the gun and fired several shots at the suspects shooting at least one of the suspects in the shoulder.
On November 28, 2018, Nickolas Dunn was arrested by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office in the area of La Grange. Dunn had a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was transported to the hospital before being booked into jail for home invasion robbery and assault with a firearm.
After an intensive investigation, Detectives identified three other suspects, Max Macen, Joseph Fudge, and the driver of the vehicle Kathleen Hanshew.
On December 3, 2018, Merced County Sheriff’s Office STAR team located and arrested Kathleen Hanshew for home invasion robbery and Max Macen for home invasion robbery, assault with a firearm and a parole violation. Hanshew and Macen were arrested after a short pursuit in Modesto, California.
On December 5, 2018, the fourth suspect, Joseph Fudge, was arrested by detectives in Montana and was found to have a gunshot wound to his lower back. Fudge is pending extradition back to California to face charges of home invasion robbery and assault with a firearm.
