One woman was killed in a train vs. pedestrian incident in Winton.
Merced County Sheriff Deputies responded to Winton Way near Santa Fe for a pedestrian struck by a train just after 1:20 p.m.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they immediately pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
The incident caused the train to block multiple intersections in the Winton area.
According to Merced County Sheriff Deputy Michael Domingue, a train struck and killed a middle-aged adult female.
What led to the woman being struck by the train is currently under investigation by BNSF.
