A 77- year-old motorcyclist was sent to the hospital after a hit-and-run traffic collision, CHP say.
CHP responded the intersection of Ashby and Beachwood for a traffic collision at 5:34 p.m.
The investigation determined an older model White Honda Prelude was stopped at a stop sign on southbound Beachwood, the suspects’s vehicle was going to make a left on eastbound of Ashby. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound of Ashby, heading towards the intersection. The suspect pulled out in front of the motorcycle, crashing into the motorcyclist, according to CHP Public Information Officer Eric Zuniga.
The 65-year-old Atwater man was ejected.
The suspect’s vehicle fled soon after.
However, the suspect’s vehicle came back moments later to pick up the bumper that fell off after the collision. The passenger, male, came out the vehicle to pick up the bumper. The suspect’s vehicle would flee again.
The victim sustained major injuries.
Witnesses say the passenger that came out the vehicle to retrieve the bumper, is a male with short hair, driver possibly had long hair.
