On Sunday, November 22, 2020, at approximately 08:21 am, CHP responded to a solo overturned vehicle with a party trapped under the vehicle in the area of Sandy Mush Road, east of Healy Road, CHP say.
CHP say, a solo vehicle had rolled multiple times, ejecting both occupants out of the vehicle. The adult male driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene prior to CHP arrival.
The investigation determined that an adult male driver was driving his 2002 Ford Mustang westbound on Sandy Mush Road, east of Healy Road at an unknown high rate of speed. For unknown reason, the driver allowed his vehicle to drive of the north roadway edge of Sandy Mush Road where it overturned several times. As the vehicle overturned, both the driver and the right front passenger ( Karla Xiomara Pirir, of Chowchilla) were not wearing their safety restraint system and were ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle came to rest in an orchard, on its wheels, and on top of male driver causing fatal injuries.
Ms. Pirir sustained major injuries to her right leg and hip and was transported by ground ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, Fresno CA.
Drugs and/or alcohol appear to be a factor to this collision.
