Merced County Sheriff’s deputies responded for a shots fired call near the area of Walnut Avenue and Santa Fe at 12:55 p.m., Tuesday.
Deputies located two male victims on scene and immediately notified Sybil N. Crookham Elementary School to go on lockdown.
Merced County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Deputy Daryl Allen told Merced Daily that one male victim was dead on scene, the other victim was flown to a Modesto hospital for treatment. The condition of the flown victim is not known at this time.
Allen did not comment on the age of the victims at this time.
