Congratulations to all of the elementary and junior high school students who competed in this year’s Merced County Spelling Bee!
This spelling bee works a little differently than you might expect: Each student spells out each word in writing and are allowed 4 wrong words before elimination.
During yesterday’s elementary level competition, Harneet Sandu, a 4th Grader from Westside Elementary School in Los Banos, claimed victory after the final word “ecstasy.” Nicole Nguyen, a 7th grader from Cruickshank Middle School in Merced, emerged victorious in today’s junior high competition after the final word “phyllophagous.” These 2 top spellers are advancing to the state championships! ?
