A 21-year-old man was arrested at the Merced Carnival for illegal possession of a loaded firearm in public, police say.
Merced PD responded to 900 block of Martin Luther King Junior Way for a large disturbance involving numerous people. At the same time officers were notified that there was a man with a firearm inside the carnival.
When Merced PD arrived on scene, officers contacted Trevor Thomas Jr., a search was conducted on Thomas. Officers found Thomas in possession of 9mm semi-automatic firearm, police say.
He was arrested for illegal possession of a loaded firearm in public.Thomas revealed he had a firearm around the same time that a fight broke out near the entrance. Thomas was not directly connected to the original disturbance, police say.
