Merced PD responded to a shots fired call at the intersection of E. Childs Avenue and Carol Avenue (near Burger King) in Merced.
An older adult male was found with multiple gun shot wounds. He was airlifted at Golden Valley High School to an out of area hospital.
The suspect traveled to an unknown direction.
Shortly after (shown towards the end of the video) a pursuit ensued. The suspect took officers on a high-speed chase on northbound 99. The suspect called dispatcher during the pursuit. He stated he allegedly wanted suicide by cop. He was later arrested after the chase ended in Ceres.
Police say he shot the victim due to a road rage incident.
