Early this morning at 1:24AM, Atwater Police officers were summoned to the 1100 Block of Kelso Street on a report that a fight was taking place. As officers responded to the scene, citizens reported that at least one person had been stabbed. Upon arrival, Atwater Police officers located a 27 year old Atwater resident who was suffering from a serious stab wound to his neck. The wound had apparently injured a blood vessel and the victim was bleeding very heavily and was in grave condition. Officers, along with Cal Fire and Riggs Ambulance, rendered aid to the victim. Due to his condition, the victim was airlifted to a trauma center in Modesto, CA where he underwent emergency surgery to address his life-threatening wounds. The victim remains in the hospital in serious condition.

Officers were able to determine that the victim was stabbed during a family quarrel inside an apartment in the 1100 block of Kelso Street. The suspect, who was later identified as 33 year old Tiffany Capri Caldwell of Turlock, had fled the apartment before officers arrived. Atwater officers continued to investigate and were able to locate Caldwell inside a nearby apartment around 3:24AM.

Caldwell was arrested for 245 PC; Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and booked into Merced County Jail.
