Friday morning, Merced PD Officer Avery attempted a vehicle stop on a gray Chevy Astro van in the area of Loughborough and R St, police say. The diver, later identified as (S) Ervin Segebert 1-1-96, failed to stop and led Officer Avery on a vehicle pursuit from the city of Merced, east on Santa Fe into Winton and ending in Atwater where Segebert left the vehicle and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later in the parking lot of Target after attempting to steal a second car and changing his clothing. A passenger identified as (S) Olivia McCoy 3-1-98, also fled the vehicle in an attempt to evade police. She was apprehended a short time later in the parking lot of WalMart. McCoy was later cited and released for possession of methamphetamine
