On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 validated Norteno gang member Alfonso Martinez, 24, of Merced, pled guilty to second degree robbery in connection to a 2016 robbery of a Merced 7-11, including admitting to three enhancements connected to the robbery, and pled guilty to assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a 2017 murder inside of the Merced jail.
Martinez was the lookout in the robbery of the 7-11, during which someone else shot and injured the store clerk in the neck. He was also the lookout for a June 2017 jail house murder, in which two other Nortenos beat a third Norteno to death by stomping his head for over 12 minutes.
He was sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison for his roles in both crimes.
