One female was killed after being struck twice in Atwater.

Authorities responded to the area of Winton Way and Fay Drive for a vehicle vs pedestrian at 6:48 p.m. in the City of Atwater.

Atwater Police Chief Micheal Salvador says officers located an adult female victim injured on Winton Way near the intersection of Fay Dr. First responders attempted life saving efforts, but they were unsuccessful, and the female was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Salvador’s news release.

According to the news release, the Initial investigation indicated that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Winton Way when she was struck by a white ford pickup truck traveling northbound on Winton Way. This propelled the pedestrian into the southbound lanes where she was struck a second time by a white Toyota Sedan traveling southbound. The driver of the Toyota stopped and waited for officers and is cooperating with the investigation. The driver of the ford pickup fled the scene and is outstanding at this time, the news release said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation and no arrests have been made, according to the news release.

Officers are still investigating and are asking the publics assistance in providing surveillance video in the area at the time of the incident.
