A 65-year-old Merced man is now in custody after leaving the scene of a hit-and-run

Merced PD was dispatched to W 13th St and R St for a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

Merced PD responded to the area at 6:35 a.m.

When Merced PD arrived they were informed the suspect’s vehicle left the scene and was described as a dark colored older truck. The pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, according to a press release.

Through the investigation, Officer Arias was able to locate the suspect vehicle two hours later in the 1900 block of E. Childs Ave in Merced. The owner of the truck was identified as Larry Queen. Queen admitted to driving the vehicle when he struck the pedestrian and fled the scene. Queen was arrested and booked for the felony charge of fleeing an accident scene after causing injury.
