Porch pirate suspect, Jon Douglas was arrested Tuesday in Atwater.
The suspect was caught on video stealing several items from a front porch of an Atwater home.
Incident happened around 8:30 a.m.
Atwater PD officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Redwood for a theft report. During the investigation it was learned that packages were stolen from the front porch of the residence. The victim had a Ring doorbell camera that captured images of the theft, the suspect and suspect vehicle.
Later in the day, APD officers were able to track down and the vehicle and identified a residence in the 1100 block of Kelso as being involved in the incident. A search of the residence allowed officers to recover all the stolen property and arrest John Douglas, 11-26-89, resident of Atwater on the allegation of petty theft.
Douglas was booked into the Merced County Jail.
His charges include: Petty theft, receiving stolen property of $950 or less w/no priors, according to Merced County jail records.
