On March 13, 2020, 31-year-old Rigoberto Fernandez Perez was killed near the intersection of Mercey Springs Road and Pacheco Boulevard in Los Banos.
A three-month long investigation has led to the arrest of 40 year old, Arviel Hernandez and, 21-year-old Carlos Hernandez for homicide.
The Hernandez’s where encountered by Border Patrol Agents at the United States / Mexico International Border where their warrants of arrests were later confirmed. As a result of the arrests the Hernandez’s are currently in the Imperial County Jail pending extradition to Merced County, according to Los Banos PD.
Biridiana Carrillo, 37, has also been taken into custody for her involvement in this case. She, along with two other members of her family are being charged as accessories in Perez’s death.
“Homicide investigations are a priority for LBPD and our Detectives work very hard to bring justice to every case. We extend our heartfelt thoughts to the Fernandez Perez family and hope these arrests bring some level of closure to them.
