On July 8, 2019 at approximately 7:40 a.m. the Merced Police Department Communication Center received a call from a citizen regarding an assault that occurred on the Bear Creek bike path near “R” Street.
A 17-year-old female was riding her skateboard along the bike path listening to music on her headphones. As she approached “R” street she felt someone grab her ankle. This caused the juvenile to come off of her skateboard. She described this person as an adult White male with a “scruffy” appearance. She picked up the skateboard in an effort to use it to defend herself when she reported a second White male adult kicked the skateboard. The juvenile was able to run from the area to report the incident. Members from the patrol division as well as officers from the DART unit responded to the area in an effort to locate the suspects. Officers were unable to locate anyone matching the suspects description in the area. The victim could only state that the suspects were unshaven and wearing dirty clothes.
