The Gustine Police were dispatched to Dollar General, regarding a theft. The store reported that a woman, later identified as 29-year-old Jessica Yajahira Reyes, of Gustine, had exited the store with a shopping cart of groceries without paying for them.
Corporal Martinez and Officer Erickson arrived on the scene and spoke to the store manager who advised Reyes left towards Sullivan Road and Hwy 33. Corporal Martinez and Officer Erickson located Reyes and her boyfriend just moments after she had dumped the cart of groceries on the canal bank of Sullivan Road and continued walking in an attempt to elude capture.
Reyes was arrested and charged with misdemeanor shoplifting (under $950.00) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
