A much needed space for children to discover is coming to Merced.
Kids Discovery Station is in the process of finalizing a more permanent place in Merced. This comes after receiving a $100,000 grant from First 5 Merced County.
Two pop up exhibits were held at the Multcultural Arts Center and the Merced County Library last year, which received an overwhelming response from the community, according to Co-Founder, Mayya Tokman.
The first pop up Kids Discovery Station brought nearly 1,000 people with the second pop up location bringing 1,700 people.
“We plan on partnering with schools, creating field trips hoping kids from not just Merced, but from Merced County will come visit”
“We’re also working with organizations and foundations who are interested in supporting memberships for low-income families.”
Chair and Co-Founder, Lee Lor tells Merced Daily, “Families are excited and can’t wait for our grand opening this winter. Kids Discovery Station will help strengthen our families and community in so many ways. Everyone of any age will enjoy exploring and learning here.”
The next pop up exhibit is scheduled to be at the Merced County Fair, in the Discovering Science Exhibit (San Joaquin Hall) across from the Grandstands, June 5-9.
