The City of Atwater unveiled their new splash pad at Veterans Park.

The splash pad is to officially open during Spring of 2021.

“This is one of the councils priority projects when we did the strategic planning session with the new council four years ago. This is council member Cindy Vierra’s pet project, the council wanted to get it done before the end of her tenure,” said Atwater City Manager Lori Waterman.

This was not paid for with general funds, it was paid from park impact fees, those fees are collected from developers building in the city. They can only be used for new features in parks, according to Waterman.

This was a benefit to the city without impacting the city’s general found, according to Waterman.

Veterans Park is the only park in Atwater that closes after hours.
