For decades Atwater residents have complained about the dangerous four way intersection on Castle and Drakeley Avenue in Atwater.
According to a local Atwater resident who lives nearby the intersection, expressed to Merced Daily, “I’ve lived here since 1985 and there has never been a Stop sign on either side of the four way intersection. I’ve seen traffic collisions involving a school bus, city vehicle, parked vehicles, multiple vehicle turnovers – all due to not having a Stop sign on either side. I have called, sent emails, spoke at council meetings, and was given the run around.”
Another dangerous intersection in Atwater is on Drakeley and Sierra Vista Street. One concerned Atwater resident recently mentioned this intersection at the Atwater City Council meeting.
According to the Atwater resident, he was driving his truck and crashed into another vehicle head on. As officers arrived they told the local resident they too are requesting stops signs to be put on Drakeley and Sierra Vista – and have been for years due to several accidents in that area.
What will it take for the City of Atwater to put a Stop OR yield sign at both of these intersections?
