One man was arrested after a traffic collision on Santa Fe and Olive Avenue.
According to CHP, a Mustang was travelling south on Santa Fe, veered off to the right shoulder and cut back into the northbound lane, crashing head-on into a white cargo van.
The white cargo van overturned, caught fire, with one man trapped inside.
CHP says two good Samaritans and CHP Officer Lori Gonzales, while on patrol, saw the incident ahead. Gonzales stopped and joined the effort to help the two Samaritans. While all three were trying to pull the man out the van, Gonzales saw the driver of the Mustang flee into the orchard. When the driver of the van was successfully pulled out the vehicle, a short foot pursuit began.
The suspect, 46, was eventually apprehended.
According to CHP, the driver of the van, 57, was transported to an unknown hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mustang was arrested on scene for allegedly driving under the influence.
