A juvenile was struck by a vehicle in Winton.

Incident happened on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

CHP and Merced Sheriff deputies responded to the area of Winton Way and Almond Avenue for a 12-year-old who was  struck by 2011 Chevy Malibu.

The light was green when the 12-year-old ran in front of the 2011 Chevy Malibu, CHP say. The Chevy Malibu was driving about 35 mph. The driver attempted to swerve, but struck the juvenile, according to CHP.

The juvenile sustained major injuries to his leg region and was life-flighted to Valley Childrens Hospital in Madera.

The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.

No drugs or alcohol are involved in this accident.
