Merced CHP responded to the area of N. Winton Way near Ridge Ct. for a multi-vehicle collision involving an Atwater PD patrol vehicle in Winton.

The investigation concluded that an Atwater Patrol vehicle was traveling an estimated 50-55 mph on N. Winton Way to assist a pursuit. Meanwhile, a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder, was pulling out of a parking lot on the East side of N. Winton Way, colliding with the patrol vehicle, according to CHP Public Information Officer Eric Zuniga.

The impact of the collision sent the patrol vehicle into a parked vehicle and street sign, debris from the collision caused damage to another vehicle, Zuniga said.

The officer sustained minor injuries in the collision.

No drugs or alcohol are suspect in the collision.

The suspect that Atwater PD attempted to pursue was arrested in Atwater shortly after. No information of the suspect is provided at this time, according to Zuniga.

CHP is asking anyone with surveillance footage in the area to help in this incident.
