Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Walnut Avenue (with a cross street of Chestnut Ln) in Winton.

The fire was reported just before midnight.

When firefighters arrived on scene they observed a fully engulfed home. The fully engulfed home was threatening a second home. Firefighters quickly contained the fire from spreading to the second structure.

Unfortunately, a family of four was displaced. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Merced County Battalion Chief Chris Bernard.
