A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a “Welcome to Atwater” sign, Sunday night, CHP say.
CHP officers responded to Atwater Boulevard and Bert Crane Road. at 8:19 p.m. for a solo motorcycle accident.
When CHP arrived on scene, an adult male, who’s not identified at this time, was found. Medical personnel declared the motorcyclist deceased at scene.
An investigation determined the motorcyclist, driving a 2001 Kawasaki K1000, was driving at a high rate of speed on Atwater Boulevard toward the intersection of Bert Crane Road. The motorcyclist then hit a rock, went airborne into a “Welcome to Atwater” sign, killing him instantly, according to CHP Officer Eric Zuniga.
Speed is believed to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation, according to Zuniga.
