A new business located across the street from McDonald’s called Exxon Mobil/Mobil Mart is coming to Merced.
The new convenience store with gas station was just approved to sell beer and wine by the Merced City Council with a 5-2 vote, Fernando Echevarria and Anthony Martinez were the only no votes both agreeing there is to many convenience stores that sell alcohol nearby.
If the majority of the council members decided on a no vote, the owners would of lost thousands and the business owners would have called off any future developments involving Exxon Mobil/Mobil Mart on the vacant land.
Two small franchise restaurants Chester’s Chicken and Baja Fresh will be inside Mobil Mart, according to the co-owner.
Exxon Mobil/Mobil Mart will be located at 782 Carol Avenue in Merced.
