A popular Fresno based restaurant called Teriyaki Don will soon be opening at the former Bobcat Diner building in Merced.
The new Japanese style restaurant is known for its unique menu, which includes their delicious rice bowls with chicken teriyaki , spicy crispy chicken, and beef teriyaki.
The owner Louie Ishihara, told Merced Daily, he opened his first location in Fresno about 19 years ago after graduating college.
“When I opened in Fresno, I wanted to gear more towards Fresno State students and the area surrounded by it. The qualities I saw there are the same qualities I saw here with Merced College, UC Merced, the residential area, and the professional buildings surrounding the business,” said Louie.
The menu at the Merced location will be a smaller version then the Fresno location for now. “ I didn’t want a massive menu for training purposes. I wanted to bring the popular items that we’re known for from our Fresno location to our Merced location,” said Louie.
As far as the prices are concerned, Louie told Merced Daily “We plan on having student like prices.”
The main focus for the restaurant is quality, freshness, and health, according to Louie
Teriyaki Don will hire at least 25 to 30 people for their Merced location.
Teriyaki Don is expected to open in August, 2019.
Teriyaki Don will be located 755 E. Yosemite Avenue, suite H, in Merced.
