The City of Merced will have one less retail store after Pier 1 Imports, a home good store announced several store closures. The chain said it would shut down about 70 stores across the United States. Merced is on the list.

Their Merced location is currently offering as much as 30% off their entire store. The 57-year-old company’s sales have dwindled for the last several years as more shoppers go online for better deals. Online shopping hit a record of 7.4 Billion just on Black Friday alone, according to Adobe analytics. Store traffic also decreased by 2.1 percent on Black Friday, according to Adobe.

Pier 1 Imports (Merced) is planned to close sometime early next year.
