A 14-year-old bicyclist was airlifted after being stuck by a Ford truck in Livingston.

Early this morning, the California Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle vs bicyclist in Livingston.

According to Public Information Officer Eric Zuniga, a juvenile was riding his bike near the fog line just east of Vinewood Avenue. Meanwhile, the driver of a Ford truck, a 45-year-old male, was driving eastbound on Vinewood Avenue at 45-mph. The driver of the Ford truck says he was going up the hill on Vinewood when he struck the bicyclist. The driver told CHP he couldn’t see the bicyclist due to the sun.

The juvenile was airlifted with major injuries to Valley Children’s Hospital. However, the injuries the juvenile sustained are NOT life-threatening, according to Zuniga.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene. He also cooperated with CHP officers.

No drugs or alcohol are believed to be a factor in this accident.
