On May 16, at approximately 3:35 am, CHP was dispatched for a big rig versus a pole in the area of northbound SR 99 south of Westside Blvd.
When units arrived at the scene they determine that it was a solo vehicle collision with no injuries.
It was determined that Ravinder Paul Thapar 58 (Fresno) was driving a 2013 Kenworth semi-truck hauling 65000 lbs of apple juice. For unknown reason, Thapar allowed the semi-truck to drift onto the right shoulder of SR 99 south of Westside. The truck/trailer combo collided with the guardrail/sign on the east shoulder of SR99.
No injuries reported, the 3 lane will remain closed until approximately 2:00 pm for vehicle recovery and repairs. Motorist traveling through area will need to be patient or use alternate route.
