A police department from Ohio is warning Netflix customers of an email scam that is asking people to update their payment details about an officer who doesn’t even have a Netflix account received an email.
The city of Solon, Ohio Police Department put out a warning, saying criminals want you to click the links so that you voluntarily give out your personal information. The links also could install malware on your computer.
“Hi Dear, We’re having some trouble with your current billing information. We’ll try again, but in the meantime you may want to update your payment details,” with a link to update the account.
Netflix said if you believe you have received a fraudulent email appearing to be from the company, never enter your details, never click on any links, and do not reply to it. Instead, forward it to phishing@netflix.com and include the message header information
