On March 30, 2019, the Winton Bike Safety Event was held at Sybil N. Crookham Elementary School in Winton.
Tom Hothem, with the Merced Bicycle Coalition, tells Merced Daily, “We’re here today teaching kids how to be on the road, how to signal , how to stop, how to be good bike riders essentially. When the kids are done completing the course, they will receive a certificate showing they’ve been through the course and they know how to ride their bike correctly.”
“Im very passionate about bike riding. Im a bicycle league certified instructor, I teach bicycle safety frequently at schools and the idea is to get kids comfortable on the road, and to get around by bike in a safe way,” says Tom Hothem.
