A 28-year-old man was killed in a solo vehicle crash on Highway 99, according to CHP.
The California Highway Patrol responded to Highway 99 near the closed Applegate Road on-ramp for a solo vehicle crash.
According to CHP officer Eric Zuniga, the initial investigation determined the driver of a 2010 BMW entered the closed on-ramp at Applegate Road. The driver continued to drive north on a dirt roadway until about 250 feet. He then crashed into a concrete K-rail near the side of the unpaved section of the roadway, this is where his vehicle would come to a stop after crashing into a parked paving machine.
At this time, the identity of the man is not released, pending notification of next of kin.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, according to CHP officer Eric Zuniga.
