The Atwater Police Department were in a short vehicle pursuit earlier this afternoon, which ended on Peerless Avenue near Fruitland Avenue.
According to Merced County Sheriff Deputy Michael Domingue, officers contacted the suspect after the pursuit, who then allegedly came out of the house yielding a firearm. Shots were fired along with non-lethal rounds.
The suspect was taken into custody and not injured
No one was killed in the incident, according to Domningue.
The incident is still being investigated.
