Three people were shot outside an apartment complex, police say
Incident happened at 12:26 a.m., Tuesday morning.
Los Banos PD were dispatched to the 700 block of Illinois Avenue for a report of three men shot. The three male victims were standing outside an apartment complex when at least two male shooters approached on foot and began firing multiple shots.
The male victims who are in their early 20’s were transported to Modesto Area hospitals for treatment. Two victims were shot in the lower body and remain hospitalized. The third victim was treated a released after being struck in the face with a bullet fragment.
Detectives are continuing to examine evidence and talk to witnesses in this case. We are early on in the investigation and no other details are available for release at this time.
This shooting comes days after a gang motivated shooting in the 1500 block of Cypress Avenue. On June 27, 2020 at approximately 10:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 1500 block of Cypress Avenue. A shooter approached a group of known gang members and associates and began firing a number of shots. No one was injured in the shooting and the shooter fled on foot towards Birch Avenue.
As Officers were investigating the shooting, a firearm was located in a vehicle belonging to Alejandro Martinez Gutierrez, 18 of Los Banos. Gutierrez is a previously convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Gutierrez was arrested and charged possession of a firearm/ammo as a felon, possession of a concealed – loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine. Gutierrez is out of custody after posting $50,000 bail.
